How To Calculate Required Gas Strut Height

Gas Strut Length Calculation

Step 1

Measure the length of the door (use MM) and calculate expected gas strut length. In the case of measuring a hatch door, this is typically the top side to bottom side measurement. In a boot lid or bonnet application, this would be the measurement from the back side to the front edge.

Step 2

Gas Strut Length is calculated by taking the measured length of the door or hatch and multiplying it by 0.60.  As an example, a 1000mm door or hatch would need a 600mm gas strut (1000mm multiplied by 0.60 gives 600mm). Now that we have calculated the required gas strut length, please take a note of this figure, you can now proceed to the Required Gas Strut Pressure Calculator.
